Old Painted & Soiled Brick Building - To be blunt about it, this painted brick building was considered an eyesore by the neighboring community, affecting property values and rentability (in some opinions). The paint was dull and scabby. Scrub A Home restored the brick to it's original turn-of-the-century appearance. |
Here the side facade has been coated with cleaning solutions. Typically, the solutions stay in place for about 24 hours, after being covered with plastic sheeting. The solutions are then neutralized (by other solutions) and washed off. |
Once the brick was cleaned, the limestone keystones and dentils required extra attention. Cleaning limestone is a separate step, involving different methods. |
After the limestone was cleaned (above), the building was ready for the final step: restoring sills and cornices damaged by "remodeling" over past decades. We don't do this kind of work, but we can recommend others who do. |
Here is a closeup of one of the keystones and its surrounding brick. The brick looks new, especially if compared to the ultra-weathered appearance that would have resulted from sandblasting, (a common method used by other cleaning professionals). We revealed the Beautiful landmark the was beneath all the layers of paint and dirt. |
